Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy M. (Egizio) Burgess Lyles, 88, of Milford MA and formerly of Sarasota FL died Thursday (June 29, 2023) at Genesis-Milford Center after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Roger Burgess and the late Irvin Lyles.

 

Dorothy was born in Boston MA, the daughter of the late Leo L. Egizio and the late Dorothy P. (LaPrise) Egizio. She attended St. Patrick’s parochial school in Watertown MA and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, Class of 1953.

 

Dorothy had been employed for many years as an administrative assistant, working in the computer industry. Later in life she became employed as a real estate sales person.

 

Dorothy had been a resident of Milford MA since 2021 and prior to that had resided in Sarasota FL for twenty years. Prior to Florida, she had resided in Framingham MA, Waltham MA & Watertown MA.

 

While residing in Waltham MA she had been a member of the Wallex Roller Skating Club and had performed in numerous shows presented to the public. She also was an active participant in numerous parish musicals at her church.

 

While residing in Sarasota FL, she had volunteered at the Big Cat Sanctuary and at the Wringling Museum, both located in Sarasota FL. She had also served as a board member of her Condo Association while residing in Sarasota FL.

 

Dorothy was an avid reader and also loved to play Mar Jong.

 

Dorothy is survived by her 2 sisters: Elaine O’Toole of Hopedale MA and Mary Sapienza and her husband Donald Sapienza of Foxboro MA; her sister-in-law: Joan Egizio of Mansfield MA; her nieces & nephews: Theresa O'Toole of Attleboro MA; Nancy Martin and her husband Allen Martin of Foxboro MA; Patricia Black and her husband Kenneth Black of Hopedale MA; Michael Egizio and his wife Jennifer of Mansfield mA; Debora Doucette and her husband Joseph Doucette of Framingham MA; Catherine Joy and her husband Michael Joy of Medway MA & Lauren Egizio of Natick MA; her grandnieces & grandnephews: Christopher Martin and his wife Sarah Martin, Kayla Martin, Kylee Black, Colin Black & Mykenzie Black, Nathaniel Egizio & Nathan Egizio, Ryan Doucette & Nicole Doucette, Jesse Joy, Brandon Joy & Connor Joy; also her foster son: Rodney Levard and his wife Cassandra Levard and their children Caleb Levard & Kendall Levard of NJ.

 

Dorothy was the sister of the late Theresa Egizio and the late Leo Egizio.

 

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. A Celebration of her Life will be held on SATURDAY (August 5th) from 11am to 12 NOON at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Prayer Service at 12 Noon.
