Dr. Nicholas A. Mastroianni Jr., 81, of Milford MA died Wednesday (October 13, 2021) at Boston Medical Center after being stricken at home earlier in the week. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte (MacNeil) Mastroianni.
Dr. Mastroianni was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Dr. Nicholas A. Mastroianni and the late Mary K. (Connolly) Mastroianni. He attended Milford public schools, graduating from Milford High School, Class of 1958. Following that he was a graduate of Harvard College in 1962 and a graduate of Harvard Medical School in 1967.
Dr. Mastroianni was a Viet Nam War veteran having served in the US Army from 1970 to 1972, attaining the rank of Major.
Dr. Mastroianni had been a longtime resident of Milford and had specialized in orthopedic surgery. He was a practicing physician with Milford Orthopedic Associates from 1976 to 2008.
Dr. Mastroianni had also served multiple terms as a member of the Milford School Committee. He was a history buff and was always interested in local, national & global politics. He also loved the musical theatre and loved to travel.
Along with his beloved wife of 52 years, he is survived by his 2 children: Claudia Mastroianni and her wife Regis Donovan of Somerville MA and David Mastroianni of Milford MA; his 3 sisters: Mary, wife of Dr. Sam Calagione of Maine & Florida, Claudia, wife of John Sweeney of Milford MA and Kathryn Mastroianni of Milford MA; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews & cousins. He is also survived by his 4 sisters-in-law: MaryAnn Mastroianni of Milford MA, Anne McGrail of Walpole MA, Elizabeth Harvey and her husband James of Weymouth MA and Joan Ruggiero and her husband Angelo of Lawrence MA.
He was the brother of the late Roberta Mastroianni, the late Paul Mastroianni and the late Ralph Mastroianni who died this past May and also the brother-in-law of the late Helen Brandon.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. His funeral will take place Saturday (October 30th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Friday (October 29th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
