Eleanor (Lawson) Burke, 75, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2022, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Robert A. and Marie (Barry) Lawson.
She grew up in the town of Brookline, MA and graduated in 1964 from Framingham North High School. She always said that she was proud to be a member of its first graduating class.
She worked for thirty years as a bookkeeper at the accounting office of the late Michael DeCesare of Milford, MA. She also happily worked as a bookkeeper for many years at the Ultimate Chimney Sweep Inc. of Bellingham, MA alongside her good friend and co-owner Julie Mulry.
Eleanor found joy in a quiet life spending time with her family. She was her grandson’s greatest baseball fan, joyfully attending every Stacy Middle School home game this past spring season. She had many fond and funny memories of traveling to Saratoga Race Course and other tracks around the country with her beloved son Robert. She loved going to the Cape with her good friends Donna and Doug Marshall to spend time with the grandkids they shared and adored going on cruises with her late sister, Roberta Hynes.
Eleanor is survived by her son Robert A. Burke of Milford, MA and his wife Nakia, daughter-in-law Heather Burke of Falmouth, MA and three nephews. She also leaves behind her three precious grandchildren, whom she adored, Delaney, Jack, and Nicholas. Eleanor was also the mother of the late Paul J. Burke, who also passed on July 22, thirteen years earlier.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours and instead a private memorial will be held prior to her Funeral Mass at Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Friday July 29th at 10 am at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, 384 Hartford Ave Bellingham, MA. Cremation will follow her funeral Mass.
