Mrs. Elinor M. “Ellie” (Beltrame) Grover, 99, of Moody ME and formerly of Milford MA died peacefully on Monday (April 14, 2025) at The Neville Center at Fresh Pond in Cambridge MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles (Charlie) L. Grover who died in 2012.
Elinor was born in Framingham MA, the daughter of the late Henry W. Beltrame and the late Mary (Bega) Beltrame. She was a graduate of Holliston High School and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing located in Brighton MA.
Elinor had a long and successful career as a registered nurse, first in private duty and then as a floor nurse at the Milford Hospital. Upon retirement, she and Charlie moved to Wells, Maine, where she and the family had vacationed for decades.
Never one to sit idle, Elinor took a part-time position with The York County Star, a local newspaper owned by the New York Times. Her title was “Lead Person.” Later, she was an enthusiastic volunteer at the St. Mary’s Church Food Pantry in Moody ME, organizing schedules and managing volunteer staff. Everyone LOVED HER.
Elinor always loved to dance – from polka to jitterbug and waltz. She had a great voice and loved to sing. Even in her final days, she sang old tunes with her daughters and remembered every word. She also loved to read and always had a book by her side.
Elinor had five children. She was the mother of the late Thomas Grover of Mendon MA; the late Charles Grover Jr. of Oakham MA and the late John Grover of Northbridge MA. She is survived by her 2 daughters: Kathleen Rest of Brighton MA and Karen Grover of Watertown MA; her grandchildren: Erika DelCioppo of Somerville MA, Heather Grunwald of Medford MA, Lara Harris of Easton MA, Cortney Walleston of Bradley Beach NJ, Damon Grover of Mendon MA, and Jason Grover of Mendon MA.
In accordance with her wishes, there are no funeral home visiting hours. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass on SUNDAY (August 10th) at 11:00AM in St. Mary's Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells ME 04090. A Private Committal Service of her cremains will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA at the convenience of the family.
