Elizabeth Sposato Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth A. (Alves) Sposato, 99 of Weymouth MA and formerly of Cambridge MA died Saturday evening (January 4, 2025) at Windrose of Weymouth Assisted Living after a period of declining health.

 

Elizabeth was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Constantino Alves and the late Marianna (Fernandes) Alves. She attended Milford public schools as a young girl and was a graduate of Milford High School.

 

Elizabeth  was first employed as a young woman working as a secretary at the Social Security Offices located in Worcester MA and Framingham MA. She then was employed as a secretary at the US Army Laboratories located in Natick MA. Following that she was employed by the US Department of Defense working in offices located in Washington DC and in Portugal.

 

Upon returning to the Boston area she became employed as a secretary at MASSPORT Authority in Boston MA and lastly was employed at the Cambridge Library located in Cambridge MA.

 

Elizabeth spent her early years as an adult residing in Worcester MA. She then resided in Arlington VA & Estoril Portugal while working for the Department of Defense. She spent the majority of her adult life residing in Cambridge MA. While residing in Cambridge MA, she was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church, where she had served as an usher.

 

Elizabeth was devoted to her children & her loving family. She loved to cook; loved all kinds of music & loved to dance; she also loved to travel, especially to the beach & spending time by the ocean; she took great pride in her appearance and was considered an elegant lady; her faith was also an important part of her life.

 

Elizabeth is survived by her 3 children: Elizabeth Meers of Braintree MA, Nancy Sposato and her husband Robert Barile of Wakefield MA and Michal Sposato of Randolph MA; her two grandsons: Seth Little of Braintree MA and Jason Meers and his wife Rachel of Quincy MA; her great granddaughter Sophie Meers; also many nieces & nephews.

 

Elizabeth was the sister of the late Mary L. Pereira; the late Odette Pereira; the late Marion Soares & the late Celeste Brown.

 

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. A Private Service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
