Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Grant) Wojnowski

Mrs. Elizabeth A. (Grant) Wojnowski, 91, of Mendon MA died Wednesday (September 20, 2023) at Beaumont Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Westborough MA after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Wojnowski, who died in 1993.

Betty was born in Hopedale MA, the daughter of the late Harry Grant and the late Helen (Sutton) Grant. She attended Mendon public schools as a young girl.

Betty was first employed as a young woman working as a seamstress at the former Bachman Worsted Mill Company located in Uxbridge MA. She married at the age of eighteen at Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale MA. At first she resided in Milford MA, then moved back to Hopedale MA and resided most of her life in Mendon MA, moving there in 1957.

As a young woman Betty was interested in women’s softball, roller skating, bowling & cake decorating. She was active in yoga, swimming & exercise classes throughout her life. Betty was also an avid bird watcher and became an active member of the Forbush Bird Club, traveling around the globe to observe birds. She was also a longtime communicant and active member of Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale MA.

Betty is survived by her 3 children: Anne Cistoldi and her husband David of South Hadley MA, Mary LaChapelle and her husband James of Virginia Beach VA and Stanley J. Wojnowski Jr. and his wife Teresa of Mendon MA; her 3 grandchildren: Jenna LaChapelle-Martinese and her husband Christopher Martinese of Ashby MA, Melissa Ann Wojnowski-Aberdale and her husband Andrew Aberdale of Mendon MA and Nicole Rose Wojnowski of Mendon MA; her great grandchild: Reese Martinese of Ashby MA; also nieces & nephews.

Betty was the sister of the late Frederick Grant of Mendon MA, the sister of the late Paul Grant of Mendon MA, the sister of the late Doris Kollett of Mendon MA, the sister of the late Arlene Larson of Mendon MA, the sister of the late Rita Miller of California and the sister of Robert Grant of New Zealand and the sister of Raymond Grant of Maine.

Her funeral will be held Monday (September 25th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. Burial will follow in Swan Dale Cemetery in Mendon MA. A visiting hour will be held Monday (September 25th) from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.
