Gail Ann (Greenhalgh) Maher Locke

Mrs. Gail A. ( Greenhalgh) Maher Locke, 88 of Hopkinton MA and formerly of Milford MA died Thursday (May 16, 2024) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. John T. Maher who died in 1983 and the late John T. Locke who died in 2010.

Gail was born in Providence RI, the daughter of the late Harvey C. Greenhalgh Sr. and the late Mildred A. (Rawson) Greenhalgh. She was a graduate of Burrillville High School in Burrillville RI, Class of 1953. She was also a graduate of the former Milford Hospital School of Nursing.

Gail began her successful career as a registered nurse working at the former Milford Hospital. She later transitioned into working as the school nurse for the Milford public school system working at Milford High School and for the Bellingham public school system working at the Clara Macy School. Also, later in life she worked as a substitute school nurse at various local public schools.

Gail had resided in Milford MA for most of her life and had been a resident of Hopkinton MA for the past eight years. She was an avid supporter of the Milford High School Boosters Club and was a frequent participant in the various local bocce ball leagues.

Gail is survived by her 4 children: Thomas M. Maher and his wife Maria of Cairo Egypt, David J. Maher and his wife Pamela of Sturbridge MA, Carolyn A. Grenon and her husband Glenn Grenon of Hopedale MA and John S. Maher of Belmont MA; her 5 grandchildren: Allison Maher of Beverly Hills CA, Jonathan Grenon of New York City NY, Matthew Grenon of Hopedale MA, Kathryn Grenon of Hopedale MA and Michael Maher of Wakefield MA; her 4 great grandchildren: Jaxon, Amelia, Liam and Rowan; her brother: Glen A. Greenhalgh and his wife Jackie of Millville MA; her sister-in-law: Pauline Greenhalgh of Rhode Island; also several nieces & nephews.

Gail is also survived by her step-son: William E. Locke and his wife Jacqueline of Milford MA and Kathleen Locke of Milford MA, the wife of the late Robert J. Locke who died in 2020.

Gail was also the sister of the late Harvey C. Greenhalgh Jr.

Her Funeral Services will be held Wednesday (May 22nd) at 10am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday (May 21st) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
