George J. Edwards, of Milford MA and formerly of Beacon Hill, Boston MA passed away on July 22, 2021.
Born in Milford, George was the son of George V. and Blanche (Rooney) Edwards. George was a graduate of Milford High School and attended Stonehill College, Suffolk Law School and Harvard Medical School.
A long-time resident of Lime Street in Boston, George was known by many in the area as a character in the Beacon Hill Area for his quick wit and imposing personality. His gift for insightfulness was shared freely and often accompanied by gales of laughter. George readily befriended strangers and listened intently to their concerns and worries. He often researched various subject matter and offered assistance when possible. His ability to recall and recite facts was stunning. Many recollect George as “a perfect gentleman.” Professionally, he was involved in various endeavors, most notably real estate, where he, for a time, enjoyed all aspects of the business.
An only child, George was devoted to his parents. After the death of his father, George spent many years caring for his mother attending to her every need. With her passing, a veil of sadness that pervaded his life increased and never completely lifted. George spent many years trying to fill the void, without success. Sometimes apparent, sometimes not, a small black cloud remained his constant companion. In spite of it all, he continued to believe in miracles. George put up a valiant struggle until July 22nd. He was 79 years old.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home in Milford MA. No public service is planned at this time. A Private Committal Service will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA.
