Geraldine Balducci Obituary

Geri Balducci, 67

Geraldine ‘Geri’ Balducci (Galvin) of Milford, MA  passed away on Wednesday, March 31st at home surrounded by her family following a lengthy and courageous battle with  cancer.

Geri was born in Lowell, MA to Henry ‘Hank’ J. Galvin, Jr. and Helen ‘Honey’ (Boudreau) Galvin on October 19th 1953.  She grew up in Medford, MA graduating from Medford High School in 1971.  Geri continued her education at both Tufts University and Northeastern University graduating in 1973.  She earned her masters degree &  went on to earn many additional certifications at Winchester Hospital.  In addition to her extensive education, Geri’s career included her work as a dental hygienist as well as positions at Winchester Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Winchester Co-Operative Bank and Holliston Public Schools.  No job was more rewarding to her however, than the wedding planning business she owned with her good friend Jocelyne.

Geri married Lon Balducci in 2002 and relocated to Milford, MA. where she settled right in to the final chapter of her life.  She and Lon loved taking weekend trips to Maine.  The Kittery Outlets were always a great excuse to start Christmas shopping in June.   Geri had an eye, and a passion for antiquing and the two of them were often on a quest for hidden treasures.  They enjoyed local consignment shopping and flea market Sundays and could be found any day of the week wheeling and dealing with Rick at Bernat Antiques.  Geri was very creative and always full of ideas.  She had a great talent for furniture restoration and was often breathing life into forgotten pieces of furniture and jewelry that she would bestow upon her friends and family.  Geri became a member of Maspenock Rod & Gun Club in 2008 where she enjoyed many good times.   She was well travelled and enjoyed telling stories of her adventures.  Especially touring Europe with her brother, and her many trips to St Croix.

Geri was a highly intelligent and capable woman who proved time and time again that she could do anything she set her mind to.  She worked hard and loved a challenge.  When she decided she was going to start a garden, she certainly didn’t start small.   Her commitment and discipline, mixed with her love for being out in the yard, always paid off.  Her bounty was everyone’s good fortune because Geri loved sharing as much as she loved gardening.    She was a hands-on and selfless daughter, mother and grandmother,  always putting those she cared about ahead of herself.  She relocated both of her parents to Milford so they could share in her life, and to care for them as their health declined.   Her rescue dogs Tyson, Brody, Molly & Ruger were her world, and she theirs.

Her family would describe her as thoughtful, humble, loyal and wise, considerate and generous.   She will be sorely missed.

Geri is preceded in death by her parents Honey & Hank;  two brothers Thomas & Edward Galvin; her adopted pitbull Brody, and Tyson before him.

Geri is survived by her husband Lon A. Balducci of Milford; step-children Bonnie Manning & her husband Mark of Wrentham;  Michael Balducci & his wife Angela of Milford,  Alysa Rose & her husband Jason of Milford;  several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, an aunt, and her two babies Molly & Ruger.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place and services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating in her honor to PittieLove Rescue, Inc., an animal rescue center close to Geri’s heart.
