Mr. Harry P. MacDonald, 92, of Mendon MA and formerly of Milford MA died Tuesday (June 27, 2023) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley A. (Gareri) MacDonald who died in 2019.
Mr. MacDonald was born in Hopedale MA, the son of the late Harry L. MacDonald and the late Julia D. (Boni) MacDonald. Harry was pre-deceased by his brother William C. MacDonald in 2020.
Harry attended the former St. Mary’s parochial schools in Milford MA and had served in the US Navy and the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
Harry was first employed as a young man at the former Draper Corporation located in Hopedale MA. He later worked at the former Foster-Forbes Glass Company located in Milford MA. For most of his life he was employed as a union carpenter. He ended his long career working for the Milford Housing Authority.
Harry is survived by his loving family: his son Joseph P. MacDonald and his wife Deborah of Hopedale MA, his son James M. MacDonald and his wife Debora of Mendon MA and his daughter Judith A. Grabathy and her husband John Grabathy of Mendon MA.
Harry’s pride & joy were his 9 grandchildren: Joseph F. MacDonald of Hopedale MA, Jesse MacDonald of Hopedale MA, Michael MacDonald and his wife Nicole of Franklin MA, Brittany Kessel and her husband Brad of Bellingham MA, Hannah Grabathy of Mendon MA, MacKenzie Thomas and her husband Scott of Sutton MA, Benjamin MacDonald of Mendon MA, Zachary MacDonald of Mendon MA & James MacDonald Jr. of Mendon MA; as well as his 2 great grandchildren: Gemma Kessel & Brookelyn Grabathy. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday (June 30th) at 12 NOON at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Friday (June 30th) from 10:30am to 12 Noon at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to his Funeral Services.
