Helen A. (Homand) Gibson

Mrs. Helen A. (Homand) Gibson, 95, of Mendon MA died Thursday (June 13, 2024) at the Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late John E. Gibson who died in 2017. 

Helen was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Augustus L. Homand and the late Amelia E. (Pantano) Homand. She attended Milford public schools and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1946.

Helen proudly served the Town of Mendon as the Town Clerk and as a Justice of the Peace for 14 years. She had resided in Hopedale MA from 1947 to 1962. She had been a proud resident of Mendon MA from 1962 until her passing.

Helen is survived by her children: Brenda Daniels and her husband Terry Daniels of Mendon MA, John J. Gibson and his wife Cindy Gibson of Millville MA, Alfred Gibson and his wife Kimberly Gibson of Uxbridge MA, Robert Gibson and his wife Carol Gibson of Mendon MA and Maryhelen Morancy and her husband Tim Morancy of East Waterboro ME; also 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; her brother: Francis Homand of Ledyard CT; also several nieces & nephews and her son-in-law: Michael Elliot of Mendon MA..

Helen was the mother of the late Roseanna Elliot who died in 2022. She was also the sister of the late Augustine (Arthur) Homand; the late Alfred Homand; the late Delphine Gavin and the late Mary Bacon.

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday (June 19th) at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA with burial to follow at Quaker Cemetery in Mendon MA. Relatives & friends are invited to extend their condolences to Helen’s family on Monday (June 18th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
