Mr. James J. Marcello Sr., 86, of Milford MA died Friday (April 14, 2023) at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Marcia R. (Mussulli) Marcello.
James was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Anthony Marcello and the late Mary (Romanazzi) Marcello. He attended Milford public schools, graduating from Milford High School, Class of 1956.
James was a US Army veteran having served from 1959 to 1962. He had been employed for thirty-two years as a meat cutter for the Stop & Shop Supermarket.
James was a lifelong resident of Milford MA and a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford MA. He grew up on Congress Street his entire childhood. As an accomplished athlete at Milford High School, he was named to the Milford High School Hall of Fame for football, basketball & baseball.
James was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting & golfing. He also loved cooking and was very proud of his property and his gardening. But his favorite past time was spending time with his beloved family members.
Along with his beloved wife of sixty years, he is survived by his 2 sons: James J. Marcello Jr. and his wife Kristina of Mansfield MA and Anthony Marcello and his wife Bernadette of Hopedale MA; his 4 grandchildren: Jenna Brady and her husband Ryan Brady of Milford MA, James Marcello of Boston MA, Robert Marcello of Mansfield MA and Joseph Marcello of Boston MA; his sisters-in-law: Rena Fairbanks, wife of the late Donald Fairbanks of Milford MA and Janice Martino and her husband Chuck Martino of Milford MA; also several beloved nieces & nephews.
James was the brother of the late Frankie Marcello, the late Anthony “Moo” Marcello, the late Louise Schiappuci and the late Marie Bonati.
His funeral will be held Tuesday (April 18th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held Monday (April 17th) from 4pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
