Janice Marie (Tierney) Blasio

Mrs. Janice M. (Tierney) Blasio, 92, of Milford, MA, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the Milford Regional Medical Center due to complications arising from COVID-19. She was the beloved wife of the late Dominic J. Blasio.

Janice was born in Milford, MA, the daughter of the late George E. and the late Lena (Cardarelli) Tierney. She attended Milford public schools, graduating from Milford High School in the class of 1945.

As a young woman, Janice was employed as a telephone operator in the Milford office of the New England Telephone Company. She later worked as a sales associate at the former Temple Galleries located in Holliston, MA and as a receptionist at the former Prime Computer Company. However, her true passion was being a devoted wife and mother. She loved cooking and entertaining family and friends at her home; traveling; and shopping, especially if there was a sale!! 

Janice was a full-time resident of Milford, MA for most of her life, before retiring to Fort Myers, FL in 1990 with her late husband. Although she resided in Florida until 2017, she continued to spend summers in Milford during that time, before returning permanently in 2017. While residing in Florida she was a member of the Greeters Club of Fort Myers; the Continental Club of Fort Myers; and the Panache Club of Fort Myers. In addition, she was a spring training season ticket holder of the Boston Red Sox since the team moved to Fort Myers, and she remained an avid Red Sox fan until the time of her death.

Janice is survived by her 2 sons: Richard J. Blasio and his wife, Carolyn Twomey Blasio, of Hampton, NH and  Robert B. Blasio and his wife, Ellen M. Blasio, of Houston, TX; her 6 grandchildren: Marc Pessotti and his wife, Brittany Pessotti, of Hopedale, MA; Jackie Irwin and her husband, Gene Irwin, of Milford, MA; Dominic Blasio of Dorchester, MA; Francesca Frederiksen of Oceanside, CA; Andrew Blasio of Houston ,TX; and Mitchell Blasio of Houston, TX; and also her 5 great grandchildren: Lyla Pessotti, Leo Pessotti and Elyse Pessotti of Hopedale, MA; Hailey Irwin of Milford, MA; and Aubrey Frederiksen of Oceanside, CA.

Janice was the loving mother of the late Susan A. Pessotti, who pre-deceased her in 2016.

Due to the COVID-19 gathering restrictions and the family’s concern for the wellbeing of family members and friends, a Private Funeral will be held from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford, MA with a burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford, MA. There are no visiting hours. Social distancing protocols and the use of face masks will be required for all facets of the funeral services.

A Memorial Mass and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a future date when it is again safe to gather.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or to Catholic Charities.
