JoAnn Dybka Obituary

Mrs. JoAnn F. (Fisher) Dybka, 85, of Milford MA died Saturday evening (October 26, 2024) at UMASS-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester MA after being stricken at her residence earlier in the week. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Michael E. Dybka.

 

JoAnn was born in Hartford CT, the daughter of the late Clifford Fisher and the late Gertrude (Finn) Fisher. She was a graduate of Manchester CT High School, Class of 1957 and also a graduate of the former St. Francis School of Nursing, Class of 1960.

 

JoAnn then began her successful career as a operating room nurse working at hospitals in Connecticut and also in California. She later continued her career as an operating room nurse working at the Milford Regional Medical Center for 16 years, retiring in 2007.

 

JoAnn was a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Milford MA and had been active in the church volunteering as a CCD teacher. She is known as a woman who loved to spoil her beloved grandchildren, as well as her pet cats. She also loved to socialize with her many neighbors & friends. She also loved her many day trips to Maine with her beloved husband & family members.

 

Along with her beloved husband of 47 years, she is survived by her 3 children: Mary Diorio and her husband Andrew Diorio of Milford MA, Elizabeth Winters and her partner Nia Winters of Worcester MA and Angela Ertz and her husband Kevin Ertz of Lincoln NE; her 6 grandchildren: Alana Parrott, Tyler Parrott, Fionn Diorio, Leonardo Diorio, Dillon Ertz and Abby Ertz; her brother: Clifford “Skip” Fisher and his wife Margaret “Peggy” Fisher of South Windsor CT; also several nieces & nephews.

 

Her funeral will be held Saturday (November 2nd) at 11am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 NOON in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. In accordance with her wishes cremation will follow with a private committal service to be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held Friday (November 1st) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
