Mr. John A. Claflin, 90, of Mendon MA died unexpectedly Saturday (April 3, 2021) at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Margaret E. (Slavin) Claflin, who died in 2012.
John was born in Woonsocket RI, the son of the late Russell W. and the late Mary E. (Woolacott) Claflin. He was first employed as a young man working in the shoe manufacturing industry located here in Milford MA. He later worked for 20 years for his son-in-law, Alan Tetreault, who owns & operates Eagle Construction Company.
John grew up in Blackstone MA as a child and has been a resident of Mendon since 1960.
John is survived by his daughter: Phyllis, wife of Alan Tetreault of Mendon MA; his son: Ronald Claflin and his wife Dana of Uxbridge MA; 6 grandchildren: Jessica, wife of Gregg Shepherd of Mendon MA, John Claflin and his wife Kerry of Clinton MA, Timothy Claflin f Framingham MA, Steven Claflin of Charlotte NC, Alan Tetreault Jr. and his wife Lauren of Mendon MA and Brian Tetreault of Providence RI; 6 great grandchildren Jacklyn Lemay, Haleigh Lemay, Garrison Shepherd, Brienne Tetreault, Audrey Tetreault and Sophie Claflin; his sister: Phyllis Aldrich of CT; his brother: James Claflin of Mendon MA; and several nieces & nephews.
John was the father of the late John A. Claflin Jr., who died in 1975; the father-in-law of the late Judy (Kraft) Claflin, who died in 1996; and the brother of the late Charles Claflin, the late Russell Claflin and the late Dorothy Rapko.
Due to the COVID-19 gathering restrictions and his family’s concern for the wellbeing of family members & friends a Private Funeral Service will be held at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. A Private Committal Service will follow in Vernon Grove Cemetery in Milford MA. There are no funeral home visiting hours. Social distancing protocols & use of face masks will be required for all facets of the funeral services.
