Mr. John “Ted” DePaolo Jr., 60, of Milford MA died peacefully Tuesday (October 3, 2023) at his residence surrounded by his loving family members. He was the beloved husband of Gina (Morganelli) DePaolo.
Ted was born in Framingham MA, the son of the late John E. DePaolo and the late Dorothy (Kellett) DePaolo. He was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1981. He also attended Quinsigumond College.
Ted had served on the Milford Fire Department for 34 years until his illness forced his retirement. He had also worked as a realtor for 20 years.
Ted had a sincere love for the community of Milford and gave back to the Town of Milford in numerous ways. Along with serving on the Milford Fire Department, he was presently serving as a member of the Milford Planning Board and was a former member of the Vernon Grove Cemetery Commission.
Ted had a deep desire to help others in need and was always there to assist people in their time of need. He donated countless hours to charitable works while helping his neighbors & friends; also volunteered at the organized blood drive for Dana-Farber/Red Cross ; the Santa Parade; and any firefighter cause. He was the recipient of the “Mickey Ward Charity” award.
Ted was a member of the Italian-American Veterans Post of Milford. He was an avid NE sports fan and was always involved in his daughters activities, including being a beloved soccer and softball coach who impacted the lives of many. He also encouraged his daughter’s participation in long distance running & marathons.
Ted was an avid golfer and also loved to fish. He was also a member of the ski patrol at Wachusett Mountain. He loved to spend time on his boat and loved his many cook-outs by the pool, but his favorite past-time was being with his beloved family members.
Along with his beloved wife of 32 years, he is survived by his 2 daughters: Marissa McDonough and her husband Quinn McDonough of Malden MA and Megan Rose DePaolo of Milford MA; his grandson: John James McDonough of Malden MA; his sister: Karen Wong and her husband Bradley Wong of Milford MA; his brother-in-law: Joe Pighetti of Northbridge MA; his mother-in-law: Rose Marie Morganelli of Milford MA; his brother-in-law: Michael Morganelli III of Northbridge MA; his 2 sisters-in-law: Angela Nash of Milford MA and Tara Pearl of Mendon MA; also many nieces & nephews.
Ted was pre-deceased by his sister Sharon Pighetti and his father-in-law: Michael Morganelli Jr.
His funeral will be held Monday (October 9th) at 11am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 NOON in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Sunday (October 8th) from 2pm to 5pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
