Mr. John J. Mazzone, 89, of West Dennis MA and formerly Milford MA, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at his residence in West Dennis, MA, surrounded by his loving family.
John was a humble, kind, caring and giving man that devoted his life to his family, his work and his church. Beloved husband of Rosemary P. (Blascio) Mazzone, he devoted 64 years of his life, heart and soul to their union. Along with his loving wife, he is survived by his 4 children: John M. Mazzone and his wife Denise of Milford MA; Lisa M. Rooney and her husband Michael of Uxbridge MA; Maria A. Muir (MaryBeth) and her husband Michael of Sun Valley, ID and Michael J. Mazzone and his wife Robin of Park City UT and his 6 grandchildren: Lauren Mazzone, Lindsey Romano and her husband Scott, Mikayla and Kayte Rooney, Theo and Nickolas Mazzone.
Born in Milford MA, John was the son of the late Michael and the late Alice (Fenio) Mazzone. An only child in a large extended Italian family, he was never without playmates. His many cousins were as close to him as siblings, especially the Mignone cousins, who meant so much to him. John maintained these tight bonds throughout his life, ever faithful with the phone calls, check-ins, family functions, Christmas cards and any way that he could to stay connected. Family was everything.
He was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1949 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College and his MBA from Babson College. Committing to make the absolute best of himself, John then served two years in the US Navy as a supply & fiscal officer.
Following his military service John worked at Raytheon Corporation, the Foxboro Company and later for the Department of US Air Force & the Department of Defense, always looking to advance himself in the best career to support his young family. He settled into his longest career with the US Small Business Administration, retiring after 34 years of service.
John was a longtime resident of Milford MA and in 2001 made West Dennis MA his primary residence while wintering near Jupiter, Florida in the Little Club Community. Always giving freely of himself and his time above and beyond his family and work, he was an elected Milford town meeting member from Precinct #2 for thirty-four years and had served as vice-chairman of the Milford Industrial Development Commission. He was also a member of the School Building Committee for the Woodland Elementary School, the Brookside Elementary School, the Memorial Elementary School & the Stacy Elementary School in Milford.
A longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford and a member of the church’s parish council brought him great joy and solace. John faithfully served as committee chairman of his sons’ Milford Boy Scouts Troop #2 and was a longtime member of the Milford Lions Club. John had also served as a member of the Board of Directors at the Milford Federal Savings & Loan Association, now the Milford Federal Bank.
