John Nordenson Obituary

Mr. John W. Nordenson, 76, of Milford MA died Saturday (March 12, 2022) at the UMASS-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester MA after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Jahna (McElwee) Nordenson).

 

John was born in Bronxville NY, the son of the late Tor J. Nordenson and the late Johnna (Bardino) Nordenson. He attended elementary school, Junior High School and was a graduate of Walter Johnson Sr. High School in Bethesda MD, Class of 1963. He was also a graduate of Lehigh University, Class of 1967.

 

John was a US Army veteran having served during the Viet Nam War from 1968 to 1970.

 

Following his military service he began his successful career in the insurance industry as an underwriter. He was first employed at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, followed by Kemper Insurance Company and CNA. From 1999 to 2006 he was employed at the Driscoll Insurance Agency located in Norwell MA. In 2006 he returned to the corporate world, working for the Hartford Insurance Company until 2008 and then with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company from 2008 to 2016.

 

John had been a resident of Milford MA since 1981 and prior to that had resided in Lafayette Hill PA; in Philadelphia PA; in King Prussia PA and Bethesda MD.

 

John was an avid golfer & bowler. He was also active as a coach in the Milford Youth Baseball, Softball & Basketball Leagues. From 1988 to 2010 he was a member of the IAABO , Board #208. He was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox; the Boston Bruins; the Boston Celtics; and the Boston College football & basketball programs.

 

Along with his beloved wife, he is survived by his 2 children: Eric W. Nordenson and his wife Jennifer of Berlin VT and Jennifer Ann Bowlin and her husband Michael R. Bowlin of Dover DE; his 4 grandchildren: JT Nordenson of Berlin VT, Emily Nordenson of Berlin VT, Dorothy Bowlin of Dover DE and Jazmyn Bowlin of Greenville SC; his sister: Karen Seals of St. Petersburg FL; also several nieces & nephews.

 

In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. A Committal Service, with military honors, will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne MA at the convenience of the family. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
