John A. Pauly, Sr. 85, of Apache Junction AZ, formerly of Milford MA, died Saturday June 11, 2022 after a brief illness.
Born in Queens NY, he was the son of the late Albert John and Marian (Thompson) Pauly.
Moving to Milford MA in 1950 he graduated from Milford High School in 1955. Soon after graduation he joined the Navy and trained as a Fire Command Technician where he served many tours until 1959 and started his family. An engineer, he worked primarily for Fenwal Electronics in Framingham MA designing several patent winning products used by NASA, the bio-medical field and in home electronics. Leaving Fenwal in 1990, he continued to work as a consultant until his retirement in 2002.
John is survived by his wife Patricia (Gagne) Ryan-Pauly, married 37 years. He is also survived by his four children; his son John A. Pauly, Jr. and his wife Mary of Medway MA, his daughter Lisa J. Sgammato and her husband William of Milford MA, his daughter Karen Ryan of Milford MA and his daughter Helene Carlin and her husband Paul of Hopedale MA along with his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving John is his only sibling, Marion Whittemore of Riviera Beach, FL. A large loving family includes his sisters in law, Joan Richards of Milford MA and Judy Lewinski of Milford MA, along with many nieces and nephews.
John enjoyed time with family and friends. An avid fisherman all his life and so very happy on the ocean, John and Patricia lived for many years in Wareham MA until discovering his next great joy - traveling across the United States. Upon retiring, John and Patricia set off and covered all 50 states and several Canadian provinces gaining many circles of friends along the way. They settled in Apache Junction AZ in 2012 and continued to camp in the Sedona Hills during the summer seasons.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Visiting hours will be held Thursday (July 14th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. A Committal Service, with Military Honors, will be held Friday (July 15th) at 10:15am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne MA.
