Joseph Anthony Reed

Mr. Joseph A. Reed, 79, of Mendon MA died Tuesday (April 12, 2022) at his residence after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Arlene V. (Phipps) Reed.

Joseph was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Joseph D. Reed and the late Rita M. (Melanson) Reed. He was a graduate of Hopedale High School.

Joseph was first employed as a young man at the former Draper Corporation located in Hopedale MA. Following that he began his successful career in the trucking industry, where he owned & operated his own trucking company for many years.

Joseph had been a resident of Mendon MA since 1976 and prior to that had resided in Bellingham MA.

Joseph had been a longtime member of the Mendon Lions Club and had been involved in local politics while serving as a member of the Board of Selectmen in the Town of Mendon. He loved to travel, especially driving one of his many vehicles, and was always up for a spontaneous adventure with the family. He also loved to snowmobile & loved boating.

Along with his beloved wife of 58 years, he is survived by his daughter: Sharon P. Reed and her companion David Felix of Mendon MA and his son: Paul C. Reed of Mendon MA; his 5 grandchildren: Nicole Fenoff and her husband Mat of Millville MA, Michelle Thomas and her companion Ryan Feur of Mendon MA, Danielle Reed of Mendon MA, Cassidy Silva of Brighton MA and Timothy Reed of Upton MA; his 5 great grandchildren: Keith Dibbern of Mendon MA, Kailey Dibbern of Mendon MA, Aurora Fenoff of Millville MA, Violet Feur of Mendon MA and Nova Fenoff of Millville MA; his 2 sisters: Mary Dean of Mendon MA and Judy Reid of CT; also several nieces & nephews.

Joseph was the father of the late Stephen Joseph Reed, who died in 2004.

In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his Graveside Committal Service on SATURDAY (April 30th) at 11am in Swan Dale Cemetery in Mendon MA. There are no funeral home visiting hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA.
