Mr. Joseph P. Costanza, 77, of Milford MA died Sunday morning (February 23, 2020) at the Blaire House of Milford after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Joanne P. (Besozzi) Costanza, who died in 2015.
Joseph was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Peter and the late Eleanor (Lanzetta) Costanza. He attended Milford public schools and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1960. He also was a graduate of Worcester Junior College and had attended Wentworth Institute.
Joseph was a Viet Nam era veteran having served in the US Navy from 1963 to 1966.
Joseph was a longtime liquor salesman for various liquor distributors over the years. Prior to that, as a young man he had been employed as a member of the Milford Call Fire Department and had also worked at Central Cleaners in Milford. Later in life he had been employed at the Stop & Shop store in Milford and for the Milford Sewer Department.
Joseph was a longtime member of the Italian-American Veterans Post of Milford and also the Marchegiano Club in Milford. He was an avid New England sports fan, especially the NE Patriots and loved to play bocce ball. He also loved to play golf, play cards & also loved to play Keno.
He is survived by his son: Mark Costanza and his longtime companion Dolores Vadnais of Plainville MA; his daughter: Kristin, wife of Tyrone Payton of Blackstone MA; his granddaughter: Jordan Payton of Blackstone MA; his siblings: Peter Costanza of Milford MA, Geraldine Christenson of CA, Lenora Costanza of Marthas Vineyard MA and Maria Hunter of Milford MA; several nieces & nephews and his sisters-in-law: Terece, wife of Raymond “Zach” Zaccarino of Mendon MA and Sandra Iannitelli of Milford MA.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (February 27th) at 10am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow and a private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday (February 26th) from 4pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
