Kenneth Michael Carlin

Mr. Kenneth M. Carlin, 81, of Milford MA died Friday (October 18, 2024) at his residence after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Dianne M. (D’Entremont) Carlin.  

Ken was born in Arlington MA, the son of the late Michael Carlin and the late Louise (Dacey) Carlin. He attended Arlington public schools and was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1961. He also attained his Associates Degree from Bentley College.

Ken had proudly served in the US Army Reserves.

Ken was first employed as a young man working as an accountant for the Cambridge Electric Company. Following that he was employed as an accountant at Executive Airlines and various

other airlines.

While residing in Bricktown NJ he began his career in the travel industry by opening his very own travel agency, Travel Mart. In 1977 he moved to Milford MA and opened a branch office of Travel Mart here in Milford MA while still operating in New Jersey for a few more years.

Ken retired from the travel industry in 2008, but stayed active by working as a part-time accountant for various small businesses in the greater Milford area.

While residing in NJ, he had volunteered as a coach for the youth hockey program. He continued his interest in hockey by participating in various “pick-up” hockey games while residing here in the Milford. He also had volunteered as a youth baseball coach & youth softball coach while residing in Milford.

Ken loved all kinds of card games, and especially loved playing “poker”. He also loved going to the beach & surfing. He taught his children how to surf & boogy-board. Because he owned & operated the Travel Mart, he was an avid traveler and loved going to new destinations & locations.

Along with his beloved wife of 58 years, he is survived by his 4 children: Michael K. Carlin of Bellingham MA, Paul A. Carlin and his wife Helene of Hopedale MA, Christine “Chrissy” C. Sweeney of Hopkinton MA and Suzanne “Suzy” LaRose and her husband Jack LaRose of Bellingham MA; his 11 grandchildren: Alex Carlin of Albany NY, Mitchel Carlin of Somerville MA, Marissa Carlin of New York City NY, Spencer Carlin and his fiancée Jeanne Butler of Milford MA, Riley Carlin of Hopedale MA, Alivia Carlin of Hopedale MA, Connor Carlin of Hopedale MA, Parker Sweeney of Hopkinton MA, John LaRose of Bellingham MA, Adam LaRose of Bellingham MA and Carlyn “Carly” LaRose of Bellingham MA; his sister: Nancy Carlin of Glastonbury CT; also several nieces & nephews.

His funeral will be held Thursday (October 24th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. According to his wishes cremation will follow. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday (October 23rd) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
