Margaret McCleary Obituary

Mrs. Margaret M. “Meg” McCleary, 73, of Millis MA and formerly of Medway MA died Sunday (April 2, 2023) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness.

 

Meg was born in Springfield MA, the daughter of the late Edward J. McCleary and the late Margaret M. (Meagher) McCleary. She attended parochial schools in Bellingham MA as a young girl and was a graduate of Bellingham High School, Class of 1967. She also attended Dean College in Franklin MA.

 

Meg was a devoted housewife and mother for the majority of her life, which she was very proud of. As a young woman she had been employed as a caregiver, working at a facility in Whitinsville MA that catered to adults with  learning disabilities.

 

Meg had been a resident of Millis MA for the past year and a half, and prior to that had resided in St. Petersburg FL for many years. She had raised her family and spent many years in Medway MA.

 

Meg loved going to the beach and enjoying the sun & warm weather. She also loved listening to music, especially Anne Murray songs. She also was a huge Tom Brady fan, rooting for the NE Patriots & the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

 

Meg also enjoyed the “Friday Night Gatherings” at the community center located within  the senior living community that she resided at in Millis MA. But her favorite past time was spending time with her beloved family members, especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

 

Meg is survived by her 3 children: Maureen Candelario of Woonsocket RI, Stephen Phillips and his wife Cindy of Milford MA and Patrick Phillips and his wife Tricia of Belmont MA; her 8 grandchildren: Kyra A. Hill and her husband David Hill of Millis MA, Ryan Gaffney of Worcester MA, Kyle Gaffney of Tampa FL, Steven Mansfield of Worcester MA, Emily Phillips of Milford MA, Lily Phillips of Belmont MA, Liam Phillips of Belmont MA and Lucas Phillips of Belmont MA; her 4  great grandchildren: Aidan, Mason, Brooklyn and Juniper; her brother: Ned McCleary of Cumberland RI; also several nieces & nephews.

 

Meg was the grandmother of the late Michael Gaffney who died in 2019 and the sister of the late Maureen Keough and the late Patricia Machado.

 

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Funeral Services will be held MONDAY (April 10th) at 12 NOON at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA . Burial of her cremains will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery in Hopedale MA. A visiting hour will be held MONDAY (April 10th) at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home from 11am to 12 Noon, prior to her Funeral Service.
