Mario Angelo Gala

Mario A. Gala, 92, of Milford MA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday (September 14, 2023) at the family home where he was born. 

Mario was the son of the late Maria (Scala) Gala and the late Leonardo Gala from Italy. He grew up and attended Milford schools. He was a long time communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

Mario was a US Navy veteran having served in the Korean War.  He worked at Milford Hospital in maintenance and later as a self employed painter.

Mario enjoyed playing cards at the Hoboken Citizens Club and going to the Italian Club for dinners.

Mario had been an avid hunter going to Maine with his brothers on their annual trips. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking, picking tomatoes and peppers right up until his death.

Mario was predeceased by his brothers Andrew, Salvatore and Leo and his sister Josephine Lake. 

Mario is survived by several nieces and nephews and his long time buddy Charlie Liberto. 

Many thanks to his great nephew Justin Lake who was his caregiver for several years and John Olson, prior to that.

His funeral will be held Tuesday (September 19th) at 11am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday (September 19th) from 9am to 11am, prior to his Funeral Services.
