Mrs. Mary C. (Homand) Bacon, 98 of Hopedale MA died Thursday (January 18, 2024) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Bacon, who died in 1983.
Mary was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Augustus L. Homand and the late Amelia (Pantano) Homand. She attended Milford public schools, graduating from Milford High School, Class of 1943.
Mary had been employed for many years as the office manager for numerous medical doctors and their practice in the greater Milford area.
Mary was a longtime resident of Hopedale MA and a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale MA, where she volunteered in many capacities at the church.
Mary was an avid reader. But most important to her, she was a devoted mother & grandmother who loved attending all of various sporting events & social events for her two sons and her four grandchildren.
Mary’s family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that was offered their mother these past years by the staff at Countryside Healthcare of Milford, especially the CNAs whose care goes unseen by most people.
Mary is survived by her 2 sons: William H. Bacon of Westborough MA and John J. Bacon and his wife Jerilyn of Blackstone MA; her 3 grandsons: Christopher Bacon and his wife Stephanie of North Attleboro MA, Brian Bacon and his wife Jessica of Hopedale MA and Jeremy Bacon of Peabody MA; her 4 great grandchildren: Charlotte Bacon, Olivia Bacon, Matthew Bacon & Evan Bacon; her sister: Mrs. Helen Gibson of Milford MA; her brother: Francis Homand of Ledyard CT and several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday (January 24th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held Wednesday (January 24th) from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.
