Obituary

Mrs. Maryellen L. (Cicchetti) Gray, 81, of Falmouth MA and formerly of Hopedale MA died Tuesday (March 29, 2022) in Falmouth MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert C. Gray, who died in 2017.

 

Maryellen was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Dr. John R. Cicchetti and the late Florence (DeRoche) Cicchetti. She attended Hopedale public schools, graduating from Hopedale High School, Class of 1958. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 1962 and her Master's Degree in Education from Boston University in 1964.

 

Maryellen was employed for forty-two years as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the Mendon-Upton Regional School District, from 1964 to 2006.

 

Maryellen first resided in Milford MA and spent most of her life residing in Hopedale MA from 1954 to 2012. She had been a resident of Falmouth MA since 2012.

 

Maryellen had been a member of the board of directors of the Visiting Nurses Association and also a member of the board of directors at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was also a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was also a longtime member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Blackstone Valley Collaborative.

 

Maryellen had also volunteered for years at the Milford Daily Bread Food Pantry and also at the “Mustard Seed” in Worcester MA. She enjoyed her book club, theatre group with dear friends and attending the Milford Symphony Orchestra performances. Maryellen's favorite summer vacations were spent with family and friends at New Silver Beach in North Falmouth on Cape Cod.

 

Maryellen is survived by her loving sister: Joan R. (Cicchetti) Redden, wife of Dr. Robert B. Redden of North Falmouth MA; her niece: Roberta (Redden) Ward and her husband Stephen P. Ward of Needham MA; her nephew: John Redden of North Falmouth MA; her grandnephews: Luke Ward, Nicholas Ward, Samuel Ward and Jacob Ward of Needham MA; and her grandniece: Siena Sky Redden of North Falmouth MA.

 

Her funeral will be held Thursday (April 7th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Thursday (April 7th) from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.
