Michelle Louise (Winship) Touhey, age 52, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on January 19, 2021. She is the beloved wife of John P. Touhey, who stood by her side for more than 27 years, and cherished daughter of Charlotte Agostini and the late John Winship (deceased 2004).
A 1986 graduate of Bellingham High School, she went on to attend Rhode Island College. Michelle grew up in Bellingham MA and moved first to Milford MA, where she raised her family of two beautiful daughters before moving to the “Touhey Forever Home” in Uxbridge MA, in 2014.
Michelle worked for more than thirty years as a dance and acrobatics instructor, a career that included the founding, directing and ownership of Milford’s Express Dance and Acrobatics, touching the lives of more than a thousand students. Her paradise was her backyard, in which she gardened, made wood fired pizza , and spent many days relaxing by the pool. She also enjoyed yoga, hiking, crafting and walking her rescue dog Murphy.
Those who knew Michelle describe her as inspirationally positive, passionate, kind, strong, spiritual, accepting, determined, beautiful, and deeply committed to her family, friends, and students.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her daughters Alexandria and Julia, both of Uxbridge MA, her mother Charlotte Agostini of Wareham MA, her grandmother Vincenza Augustini of Aberdeen NC, her siblings John Scott Winship of Boxford MA, Kevin Winship of Weare NH, Elizabeth Winship and David Winship, both of Cumberland RI and 19 nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, especially Jenn, Suzy, and the “Suite A” ladies.
In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Due to the COVID-19 gathering restrictions and her family’s concern for the wellbeing of family members & friends a Private Celebration of her Life will be held at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Social distancing protocols & use of face masks will be required for all facets of the funeral services.
