Myron Francis Merrill Sr.

Mr. Myron F. Merrill Sr., 87, of North Attleboro MA died Thursday (June 8, 2023) at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro MA. He was the former husband of Cynthia Ann (Kodzis) Merrill of Attleboro MA.

Myron was born in Laconia NH, the son of the late Myron M. Merrill and the late Francis A. (Karnan) Merrill Lavalley and was raised as a young boy by his step-father, Charles Ray Lavalley Sr. He was a graduate of Stowe High School in Stowe MA.

Myron was first employed as a young man in the restaurant industry, working as a waiter. He later was employed as a member of the United Auto Workers Union, working at the General Motors Assembly plant in Framingham MA for many years.

Myron had also served as a proud member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He was a longtime member and still presently a member of the Elks Lodge in Woonsocket RI and had also been a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #5876. He loved to go dancing as a younger man and enjoyed all forms of dancing.

Myron is also survived by his 4 children: Lisa Merrill and her husband James Smith of Uxbridge MA, Myron F. Merrill Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Mendon MA, Michelle Merrill and her companion David Blanchette of Millville MA and Mark Merrill and his wife Tamara of Ft. Worth TX; his 14 grandchildren; his 15 great grandchildren; his 5 siblings: Flora Merrill-Moore originally of Maynard MA, Charles Ray Lavalley Jr. and his wife Carol of Scituate MA, Philip David Lavalley of Texas, Wayne Hampson formerly of Maynard MA, Beverly Haefner and her husband Fred of Maynard MA, and Patricia Lavalley of Pennsylvania; 1 aunt: Flora Diann Merrill; also several nieces & nephews.

Myron was the brother of the late Paul Hampson.

His funeral will be held on THURSDAY  (June 15th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow and a Private Committal Service will be held at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia NH at the convenience of the family. A visiting hour will be held THURSDAY  (June 15th)  from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to his Funeral Mass.
