Mr. Peter F. Keenan, 93, of Milford MA and formerly of Quincy MA died Wednesday evening (June 25, 2025) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health.
Peter was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Owen P. Keenan and the late Mary E. (Gallagher) Keenan. He attended the former St. Mary’s parochial schools, graduating from the former St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1950. Following his graduation from high school, Peter enlisted in the US Navy.
Peter later attended Dean Academy in Franklin MA and later attended Nichols College in Dudley MA, where he was elected Vice President of his senior class and where he was a member of the varsity soccer team and also served as Captain of the Nichols Sailing Team.
After college Peter began his long career working in the retail industry and was first employed at the Colgate-Palmolive Company. He then was employed as the store manager of the Sears & Roebuck Store located in Milford MA for many years. From there he went on to work for the Jordan Marsh Company in Braintree MA and also in the Ft. Lauderdale & Miami area.
While residing in Milford MA he was a devoted communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church where he volunteered as a religious education teacher. He also had served as an organist at St. Mary of the Assumption Church and at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford MA. Peter also loved to travel.
Peter is survived by his daughter: Patricia M. Greene of Milford MA; his 2 granddaughters: Megan (Greene) Violette and her husband Tyler Violette of Austin TX and Shannon (Greene) Logan and her husband Kyle Logan of Quincy MA; his great granddaughter: Marlie Violette of Austin TX; his son-in-law: Billy Partain of Pawtucket RI; and many nieces & nephews.
Peter was the father of the late Joseph Peter Keenan of Pawtucket RI who died in 2018 and the brother of the late Owen P. Keenan Jr. and the late Mary E. McKinnon.
His funeral will be held Monday (June 30th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church (UPPER CHURCH), 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Monday (June 30th) from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to his Funeral Mass.
