Raymond Elliott Obituary

Raymond ‘granddad’ Elliott passed away peacefully at his home in Peabody MA, on January 16th, at the age of 92.  He was born in Milford MA, the second to last of 11 siblings to Bessie Una (Marshall) Elliott and Henry Sanborn Elliott.

Ray grew up in Milford, where he met the love of his life, Marie Louise Del Castello, in first grade. Though separated for several grades they came back together in high school and were the president and secretary of their class of 1948.  They continued dating for the next two years and married in 1951.

In the interim Ray enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Korean conflict, on the sub tender, the USS Fulton, out of New London, CT.  Upon being honorably discharged, he began his career in real estate and finance as a broker with Martin Cerel Realtors in Natick.  He rose rapidly through the ranks to general sales manager and then took a position as a mortgage loan officer at Watertown Savings Bank. Again, rising rapidly, he was elected president of the bank in 1968.

In 1973 he was appointed President of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, until his retirement in 1985.  He took positions on several major boards until his full retirement in the mid-1990s.  With full retirement, he had ample time to devout to his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and ultimately, great grandchildren.

His pride in his family was evident in his thoughts, words, and deeds.  He loved his time and being able to share ‘The Escape’ their home at Coffin’s Beach in Gloucester with family and friends.

Granddad leaves his children, Steven and Kathleen Elliott and Janet and Tom Buckley; his grandchildren, Matthew Elliott and Allison Murata and Kristin Elliott and James Egan; Kelly and Brian Behbehani; Eric and Saira Buckley and Sean and Jacquelyn Buckley, and his great grandchildren, Jackson and Colin Egan, Kai Elliott, Luke, Leila and Anna Behbehani; Emma and Eleanor Buckley and Owen Buckley.

Ray would like anyone who knows him and loves him to reach out to your loved ones, hug them and hold them tight.  Thank you all for remembering our father, he was the greatest.
