Richard Giacomuzzi Obituary

Richard P. Giacomuzzi, 98, of Estero, Fl. died peacefully Monday, February 2nd, 2026, after a brief illness at Hope Hospice of Ft. Myers, Fl. with his beloved wife of 31 years. Pauline (Carracini) by his side.

 

Born in Milford. MA where he spent his early childhood, along with his brother, Kenny, surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins before the family relocated to Framingham.

 

He was a 1945 graduate of Framingham High School and served in the Navy during WWII as a radio man aboard the USS Tarawa. 

After the Navy he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology before becoming employed at General Motors in Framingham from where he retired as General Foreman. Along with his job at General Motors, he spent 30 years as a member of the Framingham Auxiliary Police Dept., retiring as Lieutenant. He was instrumental in bringing the weekly “Cop Hop” dances to the high school students of the then three Framingham high schools and of nearby towns. 

 

He was a second-generation participant of The Framingham Heart Study of which he was very proud. 

 

Upon moving to Dennis, MA upon retirement, he was the owner of the Shadhole Road Dairy Bar, the Exalted Ruler of the Hyannis Elks, was elevated to a state officer of the MA Elks, obtained a real estate license, joined the Masons and became a Shriner. 

 

After moving to Estero, Fl with his wife, Pauline, he retired for the last time at age 89. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church where he spent some years as the Mass Coordinator. 

 

It was not unusual for Richard and Polly to embark on a 3,000 plus mile road trip to visit family as far north as Maine and as far west as Illinois in one trip with stops for fun and adventure along the way. 

 

He was predeceased by his first wife of 39 years, Ruth (Wood) Giacomuzzi, his parents, Louis and Rose (SanClemente) Giacomuzzi, his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Linda (Alves) Giacomuzzi, his grandson, Clifford B Crowe, great grandson, Dominic A Giacomuzzi and stepdaughter, Kelly Walker-Hensley. 

 

Besides his wife, Pauline, Richard is survived by his daughters, Jean Petrie and Judy (Dennis) Daubney, son, Richard P Giacomuzzi Jr., Stepson, Donald (Jill) Walker, Stepdaughter, Julie Procaccini, Sister-in-law, Linda (Carracini) Garulay, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 nieces, 1 nephew and many cousins who will all miss him saying “Excellent, Always Excellent” when asked how he was feeling. 

 

In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on TUESDAY (April 14th) at 10:00AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Private Committal Services, with Military Honors, will be held at the Dennis Village Cemetery in Dennis MA at the convenience of the family.
