Obituary

Mr. Rick M. Harvey, 53, of Milford MA died Friday (October 28, 2022) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was the husband of Cristina M. (Cecchi) Harvey.

 

Rick was born in Norwood MA, the son of the late Joseph Harvey and the son of Judith (Nicholson) Harvey. He attended grammar school in Framingham MA and was a graduate of Natick High School. He was also a graduate, with high honors, of NRI Locksmith School.

 

Rick was first employed as a young man at The Boston Globe newspaper. He then was employed at Kiddie Time Company, where he worked as a repairman in refurbishing and painting of their various carnival pieces. Following that he had been employed at the Mellotone Vending Company, followed by working as a repairman at two auto body shops, including Vendetti Motors. He later worked at the Phoenix Corporation located in Natick MA and then finally owning & operating his own landscaping company, which he proudly named R. H. Landscaping.

 

Rick’s passion was music from a very early age. He loved to play his guitar & his drums and wrote his own music which he recorded in his personal recording studio. He played in numerous bands as a young man and enjoyed playing in live concerts. Hard core “heavy metal” music was his favorite style of music. He also loved attending live concerts.

 

While owning & operating his landscaping company he became involved in the landscape design portion of the business, as well as the masonry portion of the business. He thoroughly enjoyed the hands on part of work. He had a creative mind and was able to teach himself how to perform all kinds of repair & construction work.

He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his family & friends on his deck with his firepit.

 

Rick also loved all animals, especially his pet dogs “Shiloh” & “Brady”, who brought him great comfort.

Rick also was passionate and had a vast knowledge of astronomy and loved exploring space, the planets and the constellations. He also enjoyed photographing the night sky. He had a passion for weather and meteorology. Storm systems  always fascinated him and the workings of weather.

 

Rick was also an avid sports fan, especially for the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and was fortunate enough to live a dream of his and attended the Daytona 500. He also attended the Boston Red Sox opening day game in 2008 which included the raising of the 2007 World Series Banner. He was also able to have his picture taken with the 2004 & 2007 World Series trophies.

 

Along with his wife Cristina, Rick is survived by his mother, Judith Harvey of Hopedale MA; his mother-in-law: Janet Cecchi of Milford MA; his brother-in-law: Corey Henderson; also several nieces & nephews, including Nicole Henderson; and his sister: Jen Harvey.

 

In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his Committal Service at Dell Park Cemetery in Natick MA on Wednesday (November 30th) at 12 Noon. There are no visiting hours.
