Rita Agnes (Deveaux) Murphy

Mrs. Rita A. (Deveaux) Murphy, 84, of Bellingham MA, died Monday (June 15, 2020) at her residence after an illness, surrounded by her loving family.. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald P. Murphy, who died in 2007.

Rita was born in Nova Scotia, Canada the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Louise (Aucoin) Deveaux.

Rita had been a resident of Bellingham MA since 2007 and prior to that had resided in Sudbury MA from 1960 to 2007 and in Waltham MA from 1954 to 1960.

Rita had been employed as a bookkeeper at the family owned business, Murphy’s Automotive, located in Framingham MA. While residing in Sudbury MA she was a member of the Women’s Bowling League and had also been a member of the Watertown Yacht Club.

Rita loved to assemble jig saw puzzles and was an avid Boston Bruins & Boston Red Sox fan. She loved spending time with her family members, especially her grandchildren & her great grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her children: Joe Murphy and his wife Jacquie of Milford MA, Jerry “Paul” Murphy and his wife Mary of Bourne MA and Brenda Daigle and her husband Rick of Bellingham MA; her ten grandchildren: Kristen Murphy and her fiancée Jimmy of Andover MA, Joey Murphy of Milford MA, Paul Murphy and his wife Kim of Stow MA, Meaghan Collins and her companion Matt of Wareham MA, Pat Murphy and his fiancé Alyssa of Mendon MA, Kahlan Clark and her husband Stevie of Bourne MA, Maggie Murphy and her companion Ross of Franklin MA, Steve Daigle and his wife Robyn of Franklin MA, Lindsay Jeter and her husband Steve of Uxbridge MA, Justin Daigle and his wife Michelle of Uxbridge MA; her twelve great grandchildren: Jackson Murphy, Drew Murphy, Addelyn Daigle, Alice Murphy, Ava Daigle, Graham Murphy, Maya Daigle, Grayce Daigle, Max Jeter, Lucas Clark, Avery Clark, Anastasia Jacques; three brothers: Levis Deveaux and his wife Blanche of Nova Scotia Canada, Daniel Deveaux and his companion Cassie of Ontario Canada and Clarence Deveaux and his companion Linda of Ontario Canada; also many nieces & nephews.

Rita was the mother of the late Stephen M. Murphy who died in 1980 and the sister of the late Marle Anne Deveaux; the late Lionel Deveaux; the late Wilfred Deveaux; the late Yvonne Chiasson; the late Arthur Deveaux; the late Hector Deveaux; the late Alphonse Deveaux; the late Yvon Deveaux and the late Laurette Chiasson.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday (June 18th) at 12PM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. A PRIVATE COMMITTAL SERVICE for immediate family members only will follow in New Town Cemetery in Sudbury MA due to the cemetery's social gathering restrictions. Visiting hours will be held Thursday (June 18th) from 10am to 12PM, at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her funeral services. Social distancing & face masks are required for all facets of the funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Association.
