Mr. Roberto A. Candela, 77, of Milford MA, died Thursday (February 25, 2021) at UMASS-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester MA after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Evelina L. (Spadoni) Candela.
He was born in Ortona A Mare Italy, the son of the late Matteo and the late Berta (Lepido) Candela. He attended schools in Italy as a young boy, graduating from high school. He came to America in the early 1960’s.
He was first employed at the former Draper Corporation located in Hopedale MA. He then was employed at the former Dennison Manufacturing Company located in Framingham MA and at the former Breyer’s Ice Cream manufacturer located in Natick MA. Finally, he retired from Volpe Tool & Die Company located in Milford MA.
He was a Viet Nam era US Army veteran having served from 1967 to 1969. He was also a past-member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford and also a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jess Church. But his favorite “interest” was being a devoted husband, father & family man.
Along with his beloved wife of forty-nine years, he is survived by his son: Anthony Candela of Milford MA and his daughter: Nina M., wife of Jeffrey Buccacio Jr. of Natick MA; also his loving grandchildren: Arianna M. Buccacio and Jeffrey Buccacio III of Natick MA and 2nieces & several cousins.
Roberto was the brother of the late Tomaso Candela.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and the family’s overwhelming concerns for the wellbeing of family members & friends, a Private Funeral Service will be held at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. There are no visiting hours. Social distancing protocols & use of face masks will be required for all facets of the funeral services.
