Rose Rovedo Obituary

Mrs. Rose M. (Galli) Rovedo, 95, of Medway MA, died Saturday morning (December 4, 2021) at the Blaire House of Milford after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Egidio A. “Gene” Rovedo who died in 2019.

Rose was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Peter and the late Josephine (Calderara) Galli and attended Milford public schools.

Rose was first employed as a young woman at local shoe factories in Milford until she married her beloved husband Gene. She then became a devoted housewife and mother, a role she cherished.

Rose was passionate about music and possessed a wonderful singing voice. She was also an amazing cook and baker, loved to paint, knit & crochet as well as bead. She loved working with the many plants in her garden, especially her blueberry patch, where she felt most serene, grounded and closest to God, at one with nature.

A woman of great faith, Rose was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford and was a supporter of the National Shrine of St. Jude. Rose also possessed a deep interest in the social customs and cooking of other cultures and loved learning about different religions, seeing the greater common thread of God’s love regardless of the various ways He is worshipped. She had a unique ability to focus on the message, not the messenger. Her beautiful smile lit up every room and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rose is survived by her loving daughter: Patrice Rovedo Green of Medway MA, her devoted grandson Dante Green of Medway MA, her sister-in-law Betty Rovedo of Bellingham MA, and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Rose was also predeceased by her siblings: Ida Boerger, Marble “Larry” Guidali, Charles Guidali, Speranza “Sperry” DelSignore, Henry Guidali and Dora Mulstay.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Rose’s care team at Salmon Hospice: Christy, Cassandra, Allie, Maureen, Natasha, Father Gregory, Sam, Sara and Dr. Kaddis as well as her long time physician, Dr. Idriss El Koussaimi. You comforted her physically, emotionally and spiritually and your loving care, advocacy and support mean more than we can say. The family would also like to extend special thanks to the administrators, medical team and staff at the Blaire House of Milford. We cannot think of a better group of people to whom we could entrust a beloved family member. You genuinely cared about Rose as a person, not merely a resident, and your many kindnesses and care for her offered us so much comfort while she was here as well as solace now that she’s gone. It is rare to find this kind of care in the world today and we feel blessed to have had you as a part of her team. We hesitate to name specific people for fear of inadvertently leaving someone out. Rest assured, we deeply appreciate each of you as well as your many acts of kindness and compassion extended to both Rose and her family. You will not be forgotten.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday (December 8th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford Ma followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Wednesday (Dec 8th) from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The National Shrine of St. Jude, c/o The St. Jude League, 205 West Monroe Street, Chicago IL 60606.
