Sharon Margaret (Mumford) Hays

Mrs. Sharon M. (Mumford) Hays, 88, of Milford MA died late Saturday evening (February 15, 2025) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles W. Hays who died in 2004

Sharon was born in Brighton MA, the daughter of the late Harry Leslie Mumford Sr. and the late Margaret E. (Scott) Mumford. She was a graduate of Watertown High School, Class of 1954 and attended Simmons College.

After college Sharon began her long career as an administrative assistant first working for Dr. Maurice Keenan MD. Following that she worked as an administrative assistant at Bentley College and for the City of Newton MA in the Parks & Recreation Department. She concluded her successful career working as an administrative assistant for the Visiting Nurses Association of Cape Cod.

Prior to residing in Milford, she had been a resident of Bourne MA; West Newton MA and Scituate MA.

Sharon was a woman of varied interests, but she especially loved her stained glass hobby. She also liked crocheting, knitting, cross word puzzles and keeping in touch with her family & friends.

Sharon is survived by her 3 children: Jennifer Walsh and her husband James Walsh of Milford MA, Andrea Blanchard of Plainville MA and Charles W. Hays Jr. and his wife Maria of Manchester Maine; her 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her brother: Harry “Ted” Mumford Jr. of Duxbury MA.

Her funeral will be held Friday  (February 21st) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 NOON in St. Mary of the Assumption Church (LOWER CHURCH), 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. In accordance with her wishes cremation will follow and a Private Committal Service will be held at Oakland Grove Cemetery in Bourne MA at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held Friday (February 21st) from 9:30am to 11:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.
