Sharon Manoogian Obituary

Mrs. Sharon Louise (Sonne) Manoogian, 78, of Milford MA died Friday (April 22, 2022) at her residence after a long, brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Manoog “Mike” Manoogian.

 

Sharon was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Clyde Sonne and the late Antonetta “Bella” (Catto) Sonne Haughey. She attended Milford public schools, graduating from Milford High School, Class of 1961. She was also a graduate of the John Robert Powers Finishing School, located in Boston MA, Class of 1962.

 

 Sharon began working at the Natick Laboratories in the early 1960’s and was where she met her husband of 58 years.  She began her career as a secretary and worked her way up to be head of security and ultimately staff support to the commanding General. She was selected for the US Army Materiel Command Career Intern Program for computer programming and applied the knowledge to various computer programs for the US Army at Natick Labs.

 

Sharon retired in 2001 from the US Army Soldier System Command. In her early retirement years she consulted with the soldier system command for the planning and execution of International Soldier System Symposiums for military leadership around the world.

 

Sharon was a lifelong resident of Milford MA and an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Milford MA. As a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church she had been active in many outreach programs that involved the St. Mary’s – Trinity Covenant, community meals, parish dinners, church fair kitchen, candy table, and crafts. She was passionate about cooking & baking for family and friends. But the most precious time in her life was spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

 

Along with her beloved husband of 58 years, she is survived by her daughter: Melanie Manoogian Figueroa and her husband Rock of Milford MA; her beloved grandchildren: Nicholas Michael, Alicia Quisqueya, and Sofia Merianna of Milford MA and Alexander of Germany; her sister: Sherel Frere and her husband Louis of Woodbridge VA; her brother James Haughey and his wife Margaret “Peggy” of Bellingham MA and Ocean Isle NC; her nieces and nephews: Dr. Paul Haughey, Melissa Brindamour, Marc Frere and Dr. Leslie Frere; many cousins, great nieces & great nephews. Also survived by her sister-in-law: Sadie Manoogian of Milford MA. She was beloved by many friends and family including Lynda, Patty, Dotty,Dee, Phyllis, Sue & Lorrie.

 

Sharon was pre-deceased by her mother Antonetta; her father Clyde, her step-mother Julie and her sister-in-law Alice Manoogian.

 

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her Funeral Services on MONDAY May 2nd) at 11am at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 17 Congress Street, Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held MONDAY (May 2nd) from 9am to 11am at the Trinity Episcopal Church, prior to her Funeral Services.

 

A Private Graveside Committal Service will be held in Vernon Grove Cemetery in Milford MA at the convenience of the family.
