Mrs. Sheila A. (Whalen) Melanson, 73, of Bellingham MA, died Saturday (September 7, 2019) at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham MA after an illness. She was the beloved wife of John J. Melanson.
Mrs. Melanson was born in Boston MA, the daughter of the late William and the late Dorothy E. (June) Whalen. She attended Milford public schools and was first employed at the former Foster-Forbes glass plant located in Milford MA. She later worked at the White Hen Pantry store in Bellingham MA and at Salon799, also located in Bellingham MA.
Mrs. Melanson was an animal lover and used to ride her horse “Apache” in various parades in the greater Milford area. She also loved ceramics and painting, and was an avid country western music fan who loved to play the guitar and attend concerts at Indian Ranch. But her favorite past-time was spending time with her husband, her children and all of her grandchildren.
Along with her beloved husband of fifty-three years, she is survived by her three children: John J. Melanson Jr. and his wife Heidi of Bellingham MA, Michelle L. Melanson of South Grafton MA and Christine M. Criasia and her fiancé James Dailey III of Milford MA; her six grandchildren: Amanda Debroisse and her husband Cory of Woonsocket RI, Ashley A. Melanson and her fiancé Michael Beaudet of Sutton MA, James K. Melanson of South Grafton MA, Samantha L. Criasia of Milford MA, Emma Melanson & Zane Melanson of Bellingham MA; her great granddaughter: Savannah Debroisse of Woonsocket RI; her seven siblings: Robert Whalen and his wife Sau Thi of New Mexico, June Donnelly and her husband Phillip of Milford MA, Debrah Monez and her husband Joseph of Alverado TX, Helen Pleau and her husband Bill of Millville MA, Christina Whalen of Bellingham MA. Catherine Villani of Milford MA and Francis Whalen of Bellingham MA; also many nieces & nephews.
She was the sister of the late Edward Whalen and the late Patricia (Whalen) Wilkes.
In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her visiting hours at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA on_Sunday (September 22nd ) from 1pm to 4pm.
