Shirley Lapointe Obituary

Mrs. Shirley A. (Rummo) Lapointe, 74, of Franklin MA died Thursday (April 1, 2021) at her residence in Franklin MA after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Russell E. Lapointe, who died in 1999.

                                   

Shirley was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Charles and the late Rena (Ducey) Rummo. She was a graduate of Milford High School.

 

Shirley was first employed as a young woman at the former Chez-Vouz donut shop in Milford. She later worked at the former Kartiganer hat factory in Upton MA and at General Electric in Ashland MA. Later in life she worked as a waitress in what ever community her travels with her late husband, who served in the US Navy, took them to. Lastly, she was employed as a homemaker in the Milford area.

 

Shirley volunteered as a Brownie Troop Leader as a young mother, while residing with her husband in Naples, Italy. She was also a longtime member of the Red Hat Society and had served as Vice Queen of the Red Hat Society. She also was President of the Wive’s Club NCOA , while residing in Virginia.

 

Shirley is survived by her daughter: Lisa, wife of Craig Strom of Norwich CT; her son: Russell D. Lapointe of Franklin MA; her grandson: Andrew Russell Lapointe of Barrington RI; her sister: Rachel M. Largey of Milford MA; her godchild: Rena-Faye Pinto of Milford MA; several cousins, nieces & nephews.

 

Shirley was the sister of the late Charlene Landry.

 

Her funeral will be held Tuesday (April 6th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Milford MA. There are no visiting hours. Social distancing protocols & use of face masks will be required for all facets of the funeral services.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute @ Milford Regional Medical Center, c/o the Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation, 14 Prospect Street, Milford MA 01757.
