Mr. Thomas R. Johnson of Hopedale, MA died on Saturday, January 25, 2020, after a brief illness. His son James, sister Ann and niece Katie were by his side.
He is the son of the late James P. Johnson and Helen (Sheehan) Johnson. Tom grew up in Hopedale MA and graduated with the Class of 1977. He worked with his father at Mooney and Company, an Anheuser Busch Distributor, after graduation and was the sole reason why his father was able to continuing working while he was sick. Tommy did all the heavy lifting, doing the job of two men and relieving his father of the strenuous parts of the job.
Tommy was always joking and would rile up his nieces and nephews until the parents were exasperated. He had a big heart and was friendly to everyone he met. Tom loved watching his Boston teams dominate on the field.
He is survived by his beloved son, James Johnson of Medway MA, loving sister Ann (Johnson) Kampersal of Millville MA, a brother William of Hopedale MA, sister-in-law Patricia (Ellsworth) Johnson of Northboro MA, and nieces and nephews who adored him. He was pre-deceased by his brothers James and John. He will also be missed by his cousins, aunt and friends.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on SUNDAY (March 1, 2020) at TJ's Food & Spirits, 355 W. Union Street, Ashland MA from 2pm to 4pm. Relatives & friends are invited to attend.
Jimmy, Ann and Katie would like to thank the Hopedale EMTs, Fire and Police Departments for their professionalism, kindness and compassion which they showed Tommy. We are very grateful to you all.
