Clara Eileen (Feeley) Alger

Mrs. Clara E. (Feeley) Alger, 97, of Hopedale MA, died Monday (November 10, 2008) at the St. Camillus Health Center in Northbridge MA after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Alger, who died in 1982.

Mrs. Alger was born in Spring Hill, Nova Scotia, Canada the daughter of the late Cornelius and the late Rebecca (Giles) Feeley. She attended schools in Nova Scotia as a young girl and came to the United States with her family at the age of sixteen.

Mrs. Alger was first employed as a young woman at Framingham Union Hospital and then later worked as a private cook for a family in Wellesley MA. She had been a resident of Hopedale for most of her life and was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale.

Mrs. Alger is survived by her 3 Children: Geri A., wife of Dr. George May of Uxbridge MA, Robert T. Alger of Mendon MA and Patricia A., wife of Patrick Niro of Milford MA; 4 Grandchildren: Jeffrey Fafard of Uxbridge MA, Peter Fafard of Jupiter FL, Laticia Michelson of Milford MA and Gina Maynard of Upton MA; also 8 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Saturday (November 15th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Mendon Street (Rte 16), Hopedale MA. A visiting hour will be held Saturday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The St. Camillus Health Center Resident Activities Fund, 447 Hill Street, Northbridge MA 01588.
