Joan R. (Whitman) Calabraro

Mrs. Joan R. Calabraro, 81, of Bellingham MA and formerly of Clermont FL, died early Friday morning (July 15, 2016) at Blaire House of Milford after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Calabraro, who died in 1994.

Mrs. Calabraro was born in Bethel ME, the daughter of the late Winfield and the late Elizabeth (Hill) Whitman. She attended public schools in New Hampshire as a young girl and was a high school graduate.

Mrs. Calabraro was a longtime telephone switchboard operator having worked for the former New England Telephone Company for many years, and from where she retired. She had resided in the Milford area for the past two years, and prior to that had resided in Clermont FL for over twenty-five years.

Mrs. Calabraro was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers Club and while residing in Florida she had volunteered as a classroom teacher. She was also an avid reader and card player, but most of all loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Calabraro is survived by her 4 Children: Valorie, wife of Wayne Barbour of Bellingham MA, Scott Calabraro and his wife Annette of Clermont FL, Elizabeth, wife of Lawrence Pace of Bellingham MA and Tammy, wife of Aaron Weeks of NC; 15 Grandchildren: Valorie, Jessica, Justin, Brandon, Zachary, Christa, Shawn, Megan, Alicia, Lindsey, Joshua, Ashley, John, Ryan & Logan;         8 Great Grandchildren: Jared, William, Riley; 2 Great Great Grandchildren: Garrett & Robin;                 1 Daughter-in-law: Trisha Calabraro of Clermont FL; also several nieces & nephews.

Mrs. Calabraro was the mother of the late Dean Calabraro of Clermont FL, who died in 2014 and the sister of the late Donald Whitman and the late Dale Whitman.

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. A Private Committal Service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
