Joanna P. (Andreano) Gonsalves

Mrs. Joanna P. (Andreano) Gonsalves, 87, of Milford MA died Monday evening (June 9, 2014) at Milford Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Gonsalves, who died in 1992.

Mrs. Gonsalves was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Clement and the late Mary (Diorio) Andreano. She was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1944.

Mrs. Gonsalves was first employed as a young girl at the former Ideal Theatre located in Milford MA and then at the former Draper Corporation in Hopedale MA. She became a licensed hairdresser and was employed at Irene’s Beauty Shop in Milford. She later was employed at Milford Town Hall as assistant town treasurer and as secretary to the late Anthony Rando.

Mrs. Gonsalves was a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church where she had served as a eucharistic minister. She was also a longtime member of the Hoboken Citizens Club of Milford and an avid bocce ball in various leagues at the ITAV Club of Milford and on Cape Cod. She was also a past-member of the Northboro Community Chorus and the St. Mary’s Church Choir.

The family of Mrs. Gonsalves would like to thank the staff at Countryside Healthcare for the wonderful care that was provided their mother these last few years.

Mrs. Gonsalves is survived by her 3 Children: Pamela Gonsalves-Arpin of Milford MA, Anthony Gonsalves and his wife Teresa of Hopedale MA and Claudia, wife of Vincent Cataldo of Mendon MA; 6 Granddaughters: Alicia Cataldo, Justine Naper, Amy Gonsalves, Alexis Tracey, Victoria Cataldo and Alexandra Cataldo;  2 Great Grandchildren:  Logan Tracey and Brody Naper; 1 Sister: Velia Melpignano of Milford MA; also several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gonslaves was the sister of the late Robert J. Andreano who died in 2008.

Her funeral will be held Saturday (June 14th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Friday (June 13th) from 5pm to 8pm.
