A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, John L. Pilla, 78, left us peacefully on August 16, 2015 with his family present. John was the devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Jane (McDonough) Pilla, both lifelong residents of Milford, MA. He was the wonderful father of Jill Pilla-Gallerani and her husband Joseph of Uxbridge, MA, and Joy Corso and her husband David of Austin, TX; and loving brother of Ann Rando and the departed Rose Bassett.
John was the beloved grandfather to Mia and Nina Corso, and Michael O’Brien, and joins his grandson Jake Gallerani who forever left an imprint on our hearts when he left us in 2014.
John was known for his passion for coaching youth football, baseball and softball. He was one of the founders of the Milford Pony football league and spent many years coaching Milford little league and girls softball. He was universally admired for his coaching style of patience, support and the ability to get the best out of every one on his players.
A remembrance of John’s life will be held at Edwards Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford, MA on Wednesday, August 19th from 5:00 – 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ForJake, which is an organization to fulfill John’s grandson’s wish of building a baseball field.
