Michael F. O''Donnell a/k/a Yehoshua Ya''acov in Jerusalem, Israel     Posted Sat July 14, 2012
Carl Paulson, zt''l/OBM
A spiritual giant, greatlly Blessed among men. He taught so many, so much. My God Father, and Mary, zt''l my God Mother. Words are so inadquate. He was my first Chumash (Torah/Bible) teacher, and that would make him my first Rav. He was the essence of Israel's spirit of Kedushah (holiness). God truely lived in him, and he INHABITED this dimension in his life, as was his spiritual essence ALL of his life manifest in His generous eye, modest demeanor and humble spirit confirmed a unique soul; one of profound stature, and in possesion of a gentle love of the good in all mankind, in God's way(s). He loved life, and life loved him. How poor his passing, momentarily leaves us, and reminds us how frail of spirit, we ALL are. Though when we reflect on such feelings, in the context of our loving living memories of Carl, zt''l, we are all enriched, beyond ALL measure, who knew, and shared in his unique life and who loved him, and this will last ALL of us, for the rest of our lives, perhaps in some of us, in the wish to imitate his greateness. Love, from the O'Donnell Family (four surviving). By Michael F. O'Donnell, today, Yehoshua Ya'acov of Jerusalem, Israel

To all of the Paulson Family -- we extend our condolences. Although we only met Carl (Mr. Paulson) on a few occasions, he was indeed a pleasure to be with and a person we always looked up to as an icon in the stained glass world.

He was truly one of the great artists of our day and will always be remembered for what he gave to the world and to all of us involved in the field of glass art. He was INSPIRING and we can only hope that our work will, one day, live up to his standards. I will always remember our password - "Pink Gold" with a chuckle and think of him with admiration and fondness.  How lucky, you, his family are that he was able to pass on his talent to all of you.  With deep affection, Arthur

"IF HEAVEN WERE A TRAIN IT SURE WOULD BE A FAST ONE -TO TAKE THIS WEARY TRAVELER ROUND THE BEND. AND IF HEAVEN WERE A TEAR IT WOULD BE MY LAST ONE, AND YOU'D BE IN MY ARMS AGAIN."   When Gramma passed i told Grandpa i did not speak at her wake - not because i had nothing to say, but that words were inadequate to express all that she was to me. He hugged me and said "i know". And he did .....he always knew. so wise. so direct. so open. So much a "servant of man" and his Lord. It would take volumes for all of us to cite what  he was to us. In 1972 i went to "The Raven Shop" where i met him & boldly stated that i "would work for free if he would teach me stained glass". Of course he obliged me, and so began a most beautiful journey in my life!To my sons, He and Mary were the best grandparents that could ever be! To me, they were beloved parents - mentors - friends. They leave behind a large lovely family that means the world to me.  Even at age 98 it is devastating to have him leave us. But we are comforted in knowing that he has gone back to his beautiful home with the Lord to be with his Beloved Mary -Elin - Denny and his  parents. He leaves behind a light that will shine in our hearts forever! So i don't say "good-bye"... i say farewell Grandpa.  And thank you. Have a beautiful journey, and will always love you. ox  katie

Dad, When I was a small child, you took care of me every summer. When I was very sick and in need of a place to stay, you and your wife welcomed me and my children in to your home and took care of us. It was such an honor and privilege for me to be able to take care of you. Love forever, Your daughter-in-law, Kristin Paulson
