Jean E. (Landmesser) Lewis Whitten

November 2, 1932 ~ July 2, 2015 (age 82) 82 Years Old


Mrs. Jean Elizabeth (Landmesser) Lewis Whitten, 82 of Auburn MA (formally from Metro-west area) died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on July 2, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late George R. Whitten Jr. of Hopkinton MA and the late Myron Roy Lewis of West Palm Beach FL.  

Born in Binghamton NY, she was preceded in death by her parents George Byron Landmesser and Hazel Marie (Unangst) Landmesser of Binghamton NY.

Jean had just celebrated forty years of marriage with George R. Whitten Jr., who passed away in December 2014.

 

Jean leaves 4 Children: Cindy Lee (Lewis) Bernier and her husband Philip Bernier of Uxbridge MA, Lugene Kay (Lewis) Machunski and her husband Victor Machunski of Webster MA, Glen Whitten and his wife Paula of Wrentham MA and Gail Tillinghast and her husband Earl of North Kingstown RI; 4 Grandchildren: Christina E. (Mayo) Provost and her husband Scott of Douglas MA, Joshua  Machunski and his wife Susannah of Grafton MA.,  Matthew Machunski  of Norwood MA and Steve Whitten and his wife Tracey of Coventry RI;  4 Great-Grandchildren: Lindsey and Jordan Provost, Hayden and Aliah Whitten;  Her siblings: David George Landmesser and his wife Bonnie of Shrewsbury MA, Donald Robert Landmesser of Webster MA and Mary Luella (Landmesser) Scoff and her husband Joseph of Bedford NH; her brother-in-law: James A. Carlsen of Anthony FL and her sister in law: Jean Landmesser of Escondido CA.

 

Jean was preceded in death by her brother Ralph Byron Landmesser of Escondido CA, Carol Marie (Landmesser) Carlsen of Anthony FL and Martha Louise (Landmesser) Roberts of Santa Monica CA. 

Jean also leaves her life – long friends of 50 years, Norma Lewis of West Palm Beach FL and Richard & Joyce Beebe of Chenango Forks, NY .

 

Jean began her career working at Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis MA as the General Manager before accepting a position with her late husband George R. Whitten Jr., who owned and operated Whitten Corporation in Mendon MA.  Before retiring Jean held three patents, created and designed all the sales materials, compliance books, and specifications for design build pools.  

 

Jean attended many Equestrian events for her granddaughter Christina. She also never missed any sporting events for her grandsons, Joshua and Matthew. Most recently she enjoyed watching her great grandchildren in soccer and gymnastics.   Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest pride.

 

Jean loved dancing and music from the big band era and Jazz.  She enjoyed nature especially all the birds and beautiful flowers.  Her most memorable treasure was her family and friends.

 

Her funeral will be held Friday (July 10th) at 9AM from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed  by Celebration of Life with Eucharistic Service at 10AM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 17 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday     (July 9th) from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
